Leanne Kelly is a San Francisco Bay Area–based vocalist, keyboardist, songwriter, media composer, and music educator, with a background in psychotherapy. A Los Angeles native, she attended USC’s Thornton School of Music, where she studied both Vocal Jazz and Psychology, before relocating to the Bay Area.
Raised in a mixed-heritage household, music played a central role in bringing her parents together across diverse backgrounds. Their creative and musical histories set the foundation for Leanne and her siblings to develop a lifelong dedication to the practice, performance, and appreciation of song.
Leanne writes music for a wide range of media, composes with industry-leading music library ALIBI Music, and provides vocals and keyboards for a variety of projects in both live and studio settings. Her music is also available for licensing through her indie pop project, New Spell.
Under the moniker New Spell, Leanne creates artfully textured, dynamic songs that draw on her background in mental health to explore themes of the digital age, climate change, and the human experience. Collaborating with producer Max Savage has resulted in cerebral, emotionally resonant work characterized by haunting vocals, glitchy beats, and a mesmerizing modern synth aesthetic.
